On Thursday, December 3rd, the current students of the DANAA had the privilege of holding a Zoom Session on the law of evidence with a current Associate Professor at the Cergy-Pontoise University and at the American Graduate School (Paris) : Professor Douglas Yates.
Prof. Douglas Yates is a graduate of the UC Santa Barbara and of the Boston University where he completed his Ph.D. He focused his expertise on African politics and politics of the oil industry in Africa.
This meeting was the ideal opportunity for all of us to gain a wealth of knowledge to better understand the American procedure and the functioning of a trial. Also an expert in Anglo-American law and International Relations, Prof. Douglas Yates presented the law of evidence in the United States. Thus, we discussed the Federal Rules of Evidence in the U.S, the burden of proof and the admissibility or inadmissibility of evidence.
It was a very rewarding and enlightening session for the current students of the DANAA. We would therefore all like to sincerely thank Prof. Douglas Yates for his time and for sharing his knowledge. We also wish him all the best in the future!
